Landing and taking off with ease at a private airport is one of the main benefits of chartering a private jet or private helicopter. Whichever country you are flying to, there are often several places you could choose to touch down. To help you decide, here are some of Europe’s top landing places for private flights.

Farnborough Airport, London

The airport of choice for Hollywood movies, Farnborough was featured in Quantum of Solace in 2008 and Inception in 2010. This is hardly surprising when you see the bold, stunning modern design of the airport’s several buildings.

Farnborough is exclusive to business and private aircraft. It hosts the Farnborough Airshow in even numbered years, and is home to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, which means your flight should be extra safe.

Le Bourget Airport, Paris

Opening its doors in 1919, it is the oldest airport in Paris, and one of the oldest in the world. It closed to scheduled airline traffic in 1980 and has since catered exclusively to private jets.

Le Bourget is now the busiest private airport in Europe. But that doesn’t mean landing there is a stressful experience. To accommodate its popularity, Le Bourget has a private airport called 8 FBOS. That’s more than any other airport in the world.

In odd numbered years Le Bourget hosts the Paris Air Show which attracts many visitors and exhibitors. It is also the site of the Musée de l’Air, which has many legendary exhibitions, including a Conchord prototype. The headquarters of the Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses pour la Sécurité de l’Aviation Civile, France’s equivalent of the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, are also stationed at Le Bourget, meaning once again you should have a very safe journey.

Luton Airport, London

Perhaps surprisingly, considering it is also a commercial airport, Luton sees more private jet activity than any airport in the UK. With 3 dedicated FBOs, Luton has all the VIP facilities you could need.

London is just 30 minutes away by car, and the airport is open 24 hours for maximum convenience. One of Luton’s FBOs is operated by Harrods Aviation, combining the best of shopping with the best of flying.

Cote d’Azur Airport, Nice

The descent into Cote d’Azur Airport is one of the most scenic in the world. Landing here can be described as like landing on water.

The dedicated private jet terminal has multiple VIP lounges, and the airport is close to Monaco, meaning the VIP lifestyle does not finish when you leave the airport.

Geneve Aeroport, Geneva

Geneva Aeroport is a busy commercial airport, but it also has 3 FBOs with luxury lounges. It also hosts the annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition exhibition, which is one of the biggest gatherings of aviation professionals in the world.

Because of its location on the French/Swiss border, passengers landing at Geneva can visit either country.

Ciampino G.B. Pastine Airport, Rome

Ciampino has a dedicated private ramp and 24 hour operation, meaning you can fly private any time you want.

Just over half an hour from Rome, Ciampino also has snooze rooms and showers in case you want to take a nap before you face the sun.
