Chantilly racecourse must have one of the most beautiful settings of any horse racing venue in the world. The racecourse is overlooked by the historic Chateaux de Chantilly with it’s extensive formal gardens and imposing water features.
Lining one side of the track are the Great Stables, built in 1719 for the estate and considered a masterpiece of 18th architecture. On the other is the grandstand, built in 1879 by the same architect as the Chateaux. Soak up the glamour and history of the French Renaissance with a day out at Chantilly.
Prix du Jockey Club and Prix de Diane
Chantilly is a flat racing track and home to two of the four French Classics, the Prix du Jockey Club and Prix de Diane. The Prix du Jockey Club was inspired by the Epsom Derby and is often termed the French Derby in recognition of its origins. The race is staged in June each year to great acclaim. Several of the winners have gone on to victory at other notable races such as the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe and the Irish Derby. The historic grandstand and beautiful setting combine to offer a fantastic day out to racegoers.
Chantilly racecourse is 50 km to the north of Paris and easily accessible from the UK by helicopter. The flight time from central London is just over one hour and from Cambridge the flight takes about one and a half hours. Your helicopter charter will land in the middle of the racecourse and you will be greeted by a concierge and VIP transport to take you to the grandstand. At the end of the day, sit back and relax as you helicopter takes the strain and flies you back home. Charters are available from all major airports and even from your home or a hotel, if there is space to land.
