London RAF Northolt

Helicopter transfer

London RAF Northolt is an active military airfield, with only a limited number of civilian slots available each day. However, its position just 13 miles north west of London makes it an excellent choice for executive and private jet charters to London. If your final destination is in London’s West End, or the boroughs of Kensington, Mayfair or Knightsbridge then RAF Northolt offers the quickest most convenient transfers. Currently the airport only accepts 3,500 private jet flights a year so slot times can be at a premium.

The airport is located 13 miles north west of London, offering excellent road connections and access to both the city of London, West End and the Thames Valley. The postcode for the airfield is HA4 6NG.

RAF Northolt airfield was opened in 1915 and has the longest history of continuous use of any RAF airfield. It was originally established for the use of the Royal Flying Corp during the First World War and the station also played a key role during the Battle of Britain when it became the first base to have squadrons operating Spitfire aircraft in German airspace. For a time, whilst London Heathrow airport was under contruction, RAF Northolt became the busiest airport in Europe. The airfield now serves as the London base of operations for the RAF and considerable work has been undertaken onsite in the last 10 years to consolidate other bases in the area. Despite the increase in military traffic in recent years there remains limited capacity for private and business jet charters in and out of RAF Northolt.

Passenger handling and security at RAF Northolt is offered by the Northolt Jet Centre. Business jet users also have access to conference room facilities and a VIP lounge on site. The runway is 5,000 feet in length and can handle all sizes of private and business aircraft from light jets to Boeing and Airbus corporate jets.
