Warm sands and Piña coladas
Palma de Mallorca, the stunning capital city of the Balearic Islands, is situated on the south coast of the island of Mallorca, on the Bay of Palma. It is host to some fantastic shopping, history and culture, alongside some of the most spectacular beaches. After arriving on your private jet all the ingredients essential to a fantastic summer holiday await: endless sunshine, golden sands and shimmering turquiose seas.
Once you’ve explored all the variety that Palma has to offer, you absolutely must head to the north coast of Mallorca, where the Bay of Alcudia is situated. Alcudia boasts stretches of shallow, pure waters complemented by utterly flawless, sun-bleached sands.
Unsurprisingly, just a short ride along the coast, in Can Picafort, is Mallorca’s leading beach resort. It offers everything, from the affordable to the luxurious accommodation. Due to the shallow waters the beach is child friendly, and numerous families will animatedly splish and splash. A stretch down the coast, Alcudia Beach becomes the Playa de Muro, where the silken sands narrow, but the ambience quietens somewhat.
Engage With the Past
If reclining by the ocean, cocktail in hand, becomes a little tiresome and you crave some exquisite island culture, then head to the historic town of Alcudia, a few kilometres inland.
Here you can clamber through woods, to reach the ancient, crumbling structures of the towns alluring antiquity, in the form of a forum, the residential area of La Portella and an amphitheatre!
Or, if you are feeling exceptionally spritely, take a visit to Bellver castle, located on a hill 3km northwest of Palma. This Gothic style castle was built in the 14th century, and was used as a military prison! Now, it is a remarkable tourist attraction and also encompasses the city’s History Museum.
This historically rich castle presents the onlooker with some truly gorgeous architecture. The unique circular shape is its most distinguishing feature. In the dappled, dusk sunlight, the pale structure emanates a warming glow.
Glide Swiftly and Stylishly
Are you more of an open ocean kind of person, who would delight in all the splendour that the cerulean expanse provides? You can admire the beauty of the deep-sea from the sandy beaches on the shore, or you can catamaran from the enchanting beach of Es Trenc.
