Which airport to choose for your London private flight

London helicopter charter

With six different airports to choose from, how do you select the right London airport as the arrival or departure point for your private flight?

This guide from the team at Bespoke Air Charter will help you choose the right gateway for your location, destination, itinerary and aircraft.

Convenient helicopter transfers

Charter a private jet to London Biggin Hill Airport and you are only a six minute flight from London Battersea Heliport where you can charter a private Helicopter. From the moment you disembark your plane to meeting your onward transport at Battersea can take as little as 10 minutes!

Biggin Hill airport is one of the least congested of all London’s airports, has excellent VIP passenger facilities, and can handle all sizes of private jet up to and including the latest long range G650 and Bombardier Global Express 6000.

As close as you can get to the city centre

London has two airports, one to the east and one to the west that offer the shortest road tranfers to the centre of the city. London RAF Northolt is located just a 20 minutes drive from London’s West End and the boroughs of Kensingtion, Mayfair and Knightsbridge. Slot times are restricted at this active RAF airfield but if the times are available then RAF Northolt is an excellent choice for departures from west and north west London.

In the east, London’s City airport is only a stone’s throw from the financial district of Canary Wharf, and just a short 20 minute transfer to the Square Mile. With excellent facilities and a claimed 90 second transfer from car to plane this could be an excellent choice for your private jet departure.

London’s dedicated private jet airport

TAG Farnborough Airport is located to the south west of the city and is London’s only airport dedicated to private and business jet traffic. Although not the most convenient for city centre transfers Farnborough is the best located for clients with bases in Surrey or Hampshire. If you are heading into the centre of the city then helicopter transfers are available to London Battersea Heliport.

The facilities are second to none and the airport can accomodate the largest of private jets, including the Boeing 737 and Airbus A318.

Last but not least

Just two airports remain now, located to the north and north east of London. London Stansted is located on the M11, approximately 40 minutes drive, or 15 minutes by helicopter from the centre of London. With plenty of space for aircraft to park, and some of the newest and most impressive FBO facilities, Stansted is an excellent choice for private jet charters from east and north east London and Essex.

A little further to the west is London’s Luton Airport. A popular choice due to its convenient road and rail links, Luton is big enough to handle all sizes of private and executive jet. Helicopter transfers offer a quick alternative for your trip into the centre of London.
